Who We Are

“We are an Easter People” is the project of Kari Beckman and Janet E. Smith, Ph.D..   Beckman and Smith represent the voices of many of the faithful who have respectfully requested that the bishops, while adhering to all public safety directives, do everything possible to make the sacraments available during the coronavirus pandemic.  “We are an Easter People” was launched on March 27.  Funds donated are strictly for expenses associated with this effort. Neither Beckman nor Smith receives a salary.

Kari Beckman

Kari Beckman is a convert to the Catholic faith, a mother of eight children and the foundress of Regina Caeli Academy, an international classical hybrid academy in the Catholic Tradition. For the past 20 years, Mrs. Beckman has been an advocate for solid, Catholic faith formation in the family, the local church and in Catholic homeschool education.  She has been featured in Forbes magazine, the BBC news network, EWTN, Relevant Radio, and other outlets for her work in the development of the fastest-growing hybrid homeschool education model in the United States. She spends her free time supporting her local Catholic Church as a Pro-life Leader and Parish Council member.  Her conversion story may be read in the ebook “Chosen- How Christ Sent Twenty-three Surprised Converts to Replant His Vineyard”  available through Ignatius Press.

 

Janet E. Smith, Ph.d.

Janet E. Smith, Ph.d. is a retired moral theologian who has taught at Notre Dame University, the University of Dallas, and Sacred Heart Major Seminary where she served as the Father Michael J. McGivney Chair of Life Ethics. She has spoken and published books and articles on ethics and life issues She has served on several Church commissions, and writes regularly for the National Catholic Register. She is best known for her talk “Contraception: Why Not”.  That talk is available for free at janetsmith.org. along with many other free talks and links to her publications and interivews.
